Authorities promote man responsible for destroying churches

The official believed to be behind the removal of 1,700 church crosses has been rewarded with a promotion.

According to UCA News, Xia Baolong is said to be behind the demolition of churches, forcible removal of 1,700 crosses from Catholic and Protestant churches.

For these terrible actions, he has received a promotion from President Xi Jinping. He is now the vice-chairman and secretary-general of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

This was made official on March 14, 2018, in Beijing.

Sang Pu, a regime critic in Hong Kong, has reacted to Balong’s new role, which is believed to carry real power.

He told ucanews.com that this promotion is proof that the suppression of Christianity by the ruling Communist Party is not stopping anytime soon.

In his words, “The central government has never changed its entire policy, its hatred of religions and its mentality to eliminate religions.”

He was supported by Professor Ying Fuk-tsang, the director of the Divinity school of Chung Chi College at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

“Though Xia’s post now will not have a direct influence on religious policy, the CPPCC as a united front institution is governed by someone who is hostile to Christianity. It is unavoidable to regard this as a setback,” he said.

Christianity in China

Right now, being a Christian in China is very scary as they are constantly being threatened

In recent times, their churches have been damaged, and a ban has been placed on all religious activities until further notice. Reportedly, some Christians are also under house arrest.
