Hundreds of commuters are said to be stranded in Rivers given the curfew imposed on the state as result of the ongoing legislative rerun election.

The Cable reports that only journalists, electoral officials and security personnel are allowed to move around freely.

More than 30,000 security personnel - police, army, navy and other para-military agencies - are said to be positioned in the 23 local councils where the re-run elections are taking place.

So far, there has been no report of violence in any part of the state.
