Metuh tore the evidence when it was brought to him to acknowledge and sign.

Olisa Metuh

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman, Olisa Metuh has reportedly torn the statement he wrote, while in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

An EFCC source who spoke Punch Newspapers said Metuh tore the evidence when it was brought to him to acknowledge and sign.

The source said “The tearing of statement is tantamount to wilful destruction of government property and it is a serious offence. Also, the fact that he obstructed operatives from performing their job is a criminal offence.

“We will explore the possibility of filing a separate charge against him at the Federal Capital Territory High Court.”

You will recall that the EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu, while speaking to newsmen, hinted that Metuh refused to co-operate with the agency.

Also, the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said the anti-graft agency obtained a court order empowering it to detain the PDP spokesman for further investigation.

Metuh, who has also sued the Federal Government, reportedly vowed to starve, rather than return the  N400 million which he collected from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.
