The governor’s decision to honour Amaechi comes as a surprise because the two have been at loggerheads for more than three years.

Wike served as Amaechi’s Chief of Staff from 2007 to 2011, but the duo fell out after Wike was appointed into Jonathan’s cabinet.

The two have been engaged in several verbal wars, the latest being Wike’s allegation that Amaechi had created a new cult in the state.

Amaechi said in response that Wike ‘had gone mad again.’

Meanwhile, Amaechi is yet to respond to Wike’s award and it’s not clear if he’ll accept it.
