AIT founder admits he received N2.1bn from Dasuki

Dokpesi said he received the funds from Dasuki was meant for the publicity and political campaigns during the 2015 General Elections.

Founder of Daar Communications, Raymond Dokpesi, who was 'arrested' by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday, Dec. 1, has admitted to receiving the sum of N2.1 billion from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

According to a statement by the management of DAAR Communications Plc, Dokpesi said the funds he received from Dasuki was meant for the "publicity and media political campaigns during the 2015 General Elections.”

The statement said Dokpesi “made his statement on the various media exposures and campaign transactions which were dutifully carried out based essentially on contractual obligations/relationship.”

Earlier, Chief Mike Ozekhom, lawyer to the media mogul had denied reports that his client was arrested by the EFCC. He said he willingly honoured the anti-graft agency's invitation.

Dokpesi was interrogated by the EFCC for his alleged connection to the arms purchase scandal involving Dasuki and 20 others.
