10 things we remember about classic Nollywood movie

"Died Wretched" was about a man, who died poor, but was buried in a 2.5 million naira casket by his wealthy nephew.

Pulse Movies is looking back at the movie, which tried to pass a message, elicit laughter, tears and unforgettable profound moments.

Here are 10 things we remember;

1. Directed by Kenneth Nnebue, who helmed "Living in Bondage," the movie starred Tom Njemanze, Eucharia Anunobi, Rachel Oniga and Tony Umez as lead characters.

2. In the movie, Lucas (Njemanze)trained his nephew Chris (Umez) through secondary school. He also once had to sell his last plot of land to save him from jail.

3. Years later, While Chris became a wealthy businessman and got married to Sarah (Anunobi), Lucas became poor and struggled to take care of his wife and five kids.

4. Chris refused to help his Uncle. On several occasions, he promised to set up a business and build a house at Victoria Island for him, but he never fulfilled any of his promises.

5. When Lucas needed 25 thousand naira for his house rent, Chris told him that he had goods to clear.

Lucas and his family were eventually evicted.

6. Chris used the money he initially mapped out for his uncle to get a car for his sidechick on her birthday.

7. The movie put to use the stereotype that a wife is responsible for her husband's actions; especially, his bad actions.

Lucas and his wife blamed Sarah for the way Chris treated them.

8. Chris was a giver in the church.  After he donated 10 million naira to the church, his wife who always tried to convince him to help his uncle, reminded him that 'charity begins at home.'

9. On the day he finally decided to give his uncle a 5 million naira cheque, Lucas' wife came to his office to inform him of his brother's death.

10. Lucas was finally buried in a 2.5 million naira casket and a Gold wristwatch of 250 thousand naira, all funded by his nephew Chris.
