Netflix fires actor from 'House of Cards'

Netflix has severed ties with Kevin Spacey amid sexual harassment allegations against the actor.

The entertainment company has said that it would hold conversations with the producers of the political drama to see if the production, which was earlier suspended, could resume without Spacey.

“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement.

“We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey."

The production, which kicked off few weeks ago, was temporarily suspended by Netflix following the recent sexual harassment allegations made against its star Kevin Spacey, who was accused of making unwanted sexual advance toward a 14-year-old boy in the 1980s.

BuzzFeed earlier reported that Spacey had made an unwanted sexual advance toward Anthony Rapp when the later was 14 and Spacey was in his 20s.

Hours after the allegation, Spacey took to Twitter to apologize for his actions, describing it as a "drunken behaviour," and officially came out as gay.

A British actor also said he had woken up to find Spacey performing a sex act on him in 2008. According to the man, Spacey allegedly said: "Don't tell anyone about this."

"House of Cards," which made its debut in 2013, tells the story of a Congressman who works with his equally conniving wife to exact revenge on the people who betrayed him.

It’s not clear what that Spacey's suspension means for the sixth season of the show, as Netflix already revealed that the upcoming sixth season of "House of Cards" will be its last.

Netflix also said it would not release Spacey's film about writer Gore Vidal.
