Another night of ambience, rhythm and building connections in February edition

Drinks, music and the cool evening breeze are a veritable combination to help revellers at any scene to make connections. Here, they provided the perfect atmosphere as guests of the brand, friends of the house and RADP staff enjoyed a night away from the hustle and bustle of the office.

Third Thursdays is an initiative of the RADP team created to build and maintain relationships with the brand’s existing and potential clients, put the spotlight of the RADP brand and create a space for brands and professionals to collaborate and build networks.

The crux is to instigate the creation of a community, where digital marketers, creators and other participants in that chain could share ideas and connections.

That purpose was very well served.

Voices could clearly be heard exchanging pleasantries as music by the impressive DJ Venum laid the perfect ambience, alternating between oldies, contemporary R&B and a sprinkling of the Nigerian new wave.

Concurrently, there was enough to drink as wine flutes carried red wine and champagne courtesy of Nederburg, all washing down barbecue from the guysat SmokeHouse.

The first edition of the event, which held at the same venue in January, was a massive success with some of the industry’s most influential figures in attendance.

February’s edition turned out in tandem; in a mix of clients and industry professionals, we had Adi Adisa, CEO, Amara Suites; Nnenna Hemeson, Marketing Manager, Distell-Nederburg Wines; Grace Agada, Managing Director at RealBoss; Vermis Bakare, Director, Entertainment by Insigne and a host of others.

As hosts, it would only be expected that the RADP team, with its obvious variety, would be there to play perfect hosts. Mark Slade; Managing Director, Operations and Overhead — RADP was joined by Zubby Emodi; Creative Director of Operations — RADP, Osagie Alonge; Head of Editorial Content, RADP and Tunde Kara, Head of Play Studio Africa.

In the twilight of 2017, Pulse and Ringier Digital Marketing merged forces to become one super body; RADP.

The merger was seen as an effort to combine creative storytelling abilities and content creation skills with digital marketing prowess to create world-class products and build a brand that could take its place as Africa’s number one digital partner.

That merger inspired RADP’s Third Thursdays, and in the spirit of new beginnings and promise, Funbi, one of the country’s most promising acts graced the stage to serenade.

With his guitarist and African Konga drums for support, he launched first into a performance of his memorable guest verses on “Adore You” by Poe and “Up to You”, a song by the rap duo, Show Dem Camp.

Next was an inspired medley of your favourite hits, filtered through as sensual R&B, music that was perfect for the night.

With guests waiting for what they knew was to come, Funbi performed a rendition of the gospel song “Hallelujah”.

It was the perfect precursor for him to launch into his hit song of the same title. The guests could barely contain their excitement as each person, slowly at first, then all at once, got to their feet to dance along to the tune.

When he dropped the mic, after appreciating his wingmen, it was the rapturous applause and shouts of “Give Us More”, and “Anything for the Children of God?”.

After a hard day’s work and for some, the ever-present promise of Lagos traffic, a night of drinks, chatter, the evening breeze was perfect to soothe the mind and body.

This is what Third Thursdays offers, as we dig our feet deeper into the year, we’re all too excited for what is yet to come.
