Varsity library complex destroyed by fire
The library complex of the University of Jos was razed by fire on Saturday, October 8.

Briefing newsmen of the tragic loss after inspecting the damage on Sunday, October 9, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sebastian Maimako, revealed that the fire started at about 6:30p.m.
According to Maimako, books, unmarked examination scripts and other materials were lost in the fire.
“On the fourth floor, which was completely razed down, we have the departments of Psychology, Political Science, Economics and office of Dean of Management sciences.
"The departments of accounting and business management are also on the floor," he said.
Expressing his shock over the tragic incident, the vice-chancellor said that the building which officially opened in 1997, also housed materials from the faculties of Education, Arts and Department of Geology.
Meanwhile, the Director of Fire Service in Plateau, Mr Samuel Musa, disclosed that it had taken six hours to extinguish the fire.
Musa said that upon the report of the fire incident at about 6.40p.m., his men rushed to the scene but needed reinforcements from other units because of the magnitude of the fire.
