Student and her mother allegedly beat teacher to death

The teacher, Miss Rita Odilinye was until her death a teacher at Starlight Secondary School, Ogidi, in Anambra state.

According to Daily Trust, Odilinye had allegedly flogged the student, Chinaza for refusing to sweep the classroom before the student scaled the school fence to report the teacher to her mother.

Narrating what happened, a teacher who preferred anonymity said Odilinye found the classroom unkempt and asked the rest of the students about who was supposed to sweep the class the previous day and she was told Chinaza was supposed to.

The teacher added that when the deceased asked her the reason for her negligence, the girl responded in a rude way and the teacher flogged her.

He further said that the girl ran out of the classroom and scaled the school fence to report her teacher to her mum.

“The mother rushed to the school carrying sticks in company of her daughter and a male relation,”

“All efforts by some of us to calm the mother down and allow the school authority handle the case, proved abortive as she swore to revenge by herself,”

The deceased was later intercepted at the entrance at the school gate by the trio while on their way out and they immediately pounced on her, beating her to death.

The Police in Ogidi have however arrested Chinaza Okafor, her mother and their relative who beat the teacher to death.
