The Yobe State Coordinator of the NYSC, Ibrahim Lass, said this on Thursday while addressing newsmen during the passing-out ceremony of the 2014 Batch ‘B’ corps members in Damaturu.

Lass said the Corps has suspended orientation camp activities in the state since 2010 due to the Boko Haram insurgency.

He however said the camp will be reopened if the state government rehabilitates it.

“Now that the security situation is gradually improving in Yobe, we are considering holding NYSC orientation camp next year, if the state government rehabilitates the camp,” Lass said.

“We have carried out a survey of the facilities in the camp and wrote to the state government to assist in renovating the camp, so that we can open it next year.

Lass noted that it was challenging to continue holding the orientation camp outside the state.

He said the security situation in the area has improved and advised corps members posted to the state not to panic.

Five of the 265 corps members who served in the 2014 Batch B got the Presidential Merit Award.
