ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi cautioned the exam body in an interview with the Guardian in Abuja.

Ogunyemi reportedly accused the Board of making profits by exploiting  Nigerian students and their parents. He added that the board was charging more than what was required to conduct the examination.

Recall that on Sunday, July 22, 2018, JAMB announced that it has remitted another N7.8 billion to the Federal Government following the conduct of the 2018 UTME.

In two years, JAMB has remitted over N15.6 billion to the Federal Government.

Commenting on ASUU remittance, ASUU president said by generating N7.8b, JAMB has turned itself to a revenue-generating agency.

He said, “We said it last year when they said they remitted about N5 billion, but this time around, it is remitting over N7 billion; is JAMB now a profit-making organisation? he asked.

JAMB reacts to ASUU president's accusations

Responding to ASUU president's accusations, JAMB's Public Relations Officer (PRO), Fabian Benjamin said the remittance was made possible because the board is prudent in managing resources.

Fabian, however, assured Nigerians that JAMB would not increase the UTME registration fee in the next five to six years.
