'Boko Haram terrorists do not know Allah', President says

The President of Nigeria has shared his thoughts on Boko Haram terrorists.

According to Muhammadu Buhari, these people are not real Muslims, adding that their actions prove that they do not know Allah, Nigerian Today reports.

“The fact that they kill men, women, children, and other people wantonly, and shout ‘Allahu Akbar (God is great)’ shows that they do not know that Allah at all. If they did, they would not shed innocent blood”, he said.

Speaking at a bilateral meeting with the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, at the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly in New York, Buhari urged the intergovernmental organization to help in the attempt to get over 200 Chibok schoolgirls and fight against terrorism.

“The challenge is in getting credible and bona fide leadership of Boko Haram to discuss with. The split in the insurgent group is not helping matters.

Government had reached out, ready to negotiate, but it became difficult to identify credible leaders. We will welcome intermediaries such as UN outfits, to step in”, he added.

The government is currently trying to swap arrested Boko Haram soldiers for the Chibko girls, who were abducted in April, 2014.
