‘He’ll be sent out of office soon,’ Faleke says

Faleke was chosen to be Bello’s deputy but he refused to fill the position insisting instead that he be sworn in as governor.

Yahaya Bello

The running mate to late All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, James Faleke has said that the state’s new governor, Yahaya Bello will be sent out soon.

Faleke was chosen to be Bello’s deputy but he refused to fill the position insisting instead that he be sworn in as governor.

He also said, via Twitter, that he would occupy the governorship seat of Kogi before the year ends.

“Today, a governor has been inaugurated in Kogi State. We did not go to court to stop his inauguration because we know he will be sent out soon,” Faleke said.

“I was told that the master of ceremonies at the inauguration said the people voted for Audu but that their god voted for Bello. Our God is a God of justice.

“Today, our supporters might not feel free to walk in to the Lugard House but before the end of the Year, we will occupy the seat of power,” he added.

Bello was sworn in without a deputy due to Faleke’s failure to attend the ceremony.

Audu died on November 22, 2015, after contesting alongside Faleke in the previous elections which were subsequently declared inconclusive.

Bello was then chosen by the APC under authorization by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
