‘Jonathan, Obasanjo can’t stop anti-corruption war,’ Presidency says

Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu said further, on Sunday, August 9, 2015, that the anti-graft war ‘will continue to go on”.

Former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo

The Presidency has denied reports that former Presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan visited President Muhammadu Buhari in a bid to stop the current war against corruption.

Buhari’s media aide, Garba Shehu said further, on Sunday, August 9, 2015, that the anti-graft war ‘will continue to go on”.

Jonathan paid a secret visit to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, August 6, while Obasanjo visited on Friday, 7.

“The meeting between former Presidents Obasanjo and Jonathan with President Buhari were private and confidential,” Shehu said.

“The president can call them for advice. But it will be unfair for anybody to feel or say it was to stop the war against corruption. The war will continue to go on,” Shehu added.

Buhari has said that his probe would focus only on Jonathan’s administration and forensic auditors have already been called in to being the process.
