Freddy Ndigbara, Amaechi’s Deputy Chief Press Secretary, was abducted during an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally on Saturday, February 21.
Ndigbara’s captors were said to have made contact with his family and stated their demands.
“Yes, they have established contact with Freddie’s (Ndigbara) family and they (kidnappers) are demanding N100m before they will release him. Everybody is sad that this is happening to Freddie,” a source told Punch.
“He (Ndigbara) is a gentleman and does not deserve what happened to him. We are appealing to those holding him hostage to release him. He is not a rich man,” the source added.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ahmad Mohammad however stated that efforts were being made to rescue the victim.
“Investigation and efforts toward rescuing the kidnap victim are in top gear. But I am not aware of any demand for ransom by his abductors,” Mohammad.
Amaechi had earlier said that Ndigbara’s abduction was politically motivated while urging his captors to release him unconditionally.
