The presidential aide made the comments on Thursday while appearing on TVC’s “This Morning.”
“If Buhari will speak to Nigerians it will be his choice, his prerogative. We don’t need to intrude. What some people want to do is to ram it down his throat willy-nilly. It is a point of principle that Buhari is not speaking to Nigerians,” Adesina said.
Adesina had earlier said that only the president can reveal the true state of his health.
He also said that expecting Buhari to speak while on vacation would be an infringement of his rights.
President Buhari has been out of Nigeria since January 19 when he travelled to London for a 10-day medical vacation.
The president was due to resume on February 6, but he wrote the Senate on February 5 to extend his vacation indefinitely.
The Presidency has however attempted to alleviate fears about Buhari’s health by releasing photos of him receiving visitors in London.
Buhari was most recently visited by National Assembly leaders, Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara.
Saraki, who’s the Senate President, assured Nigerians that there’s no cause for alarm about Buhari’s health.
