President Muhammadu Buhari was a special guest at the wedding of Fatima Dangote, daughter of billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, which took place in Kano on Friday, March 16, 2018.

The president attended Fatima's wedding fatiha during a short visit to Kano and returned to Abuja shortly after.

This was disclosed by the president's Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, on his Twitter account (@BashirAhmaad).

According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, the wedding between Fatima and Jamilu Abubakar, son of a former Inspector-General of Police, Muhammad Abubakar, took place at 12 noon at the Kano Emir's palace.

The wedding was conducted by the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, and supported by the Chief Imam of Kano, Prof. Sani Zaharaddeen.

In his capacity as the bride's father, President Buhari received N500,000 dowry from the representative of the groom at the occasion.

The wedding was attended by other top personalities like former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd); Senate President, Bukola Saraki; Speaker, the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; former National Security Adviser, Gen. Aliyu Gusau (rtd) as well as lawmakers of the National Assembly and other politicians.
