Movie invades Nigeria cinemas, tops Hollywood movies

Lancelot Imaseun's movie takes over Nigeria cinemas.

Following its cinema release on Friday, December 5, 2014, Lancelot Imasuen's historical epic, 'Invasion 1897', has witnessed tremendous attendance in cinemas across Nigeria.

The movie which received a 2015 AMVCAs nomination for Best Movie (Drama), and also got Lancelot a nomination for Best Director, has outperformed Hollywood titles at various cinemas across the country.

The epic movie is based on the invasion of the great Benin Kingdom by the British in 1897, which saw the deposition of Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi.

The movie which has been receiving positive reviews, parades an impressive cast, which includes Mike Omoregbe, Segun Arinze, Rudolph Walker, Charles Inojie, Paul Obazele, Justus Esiri, Charles 'Chucky' Venn, and Leo Mezie.

Movie lovers have been captivated by the power of the story, the stunning visual effects, the fantastic performances of the actors, as well as the rich display of culture in the film.
