‘How I lured, raped, murdered female corps member’ - Driving Instructor

A driving instructor who raped and strangled an NYSC member to death has given more graphic details on how he hatched and committed the crime.

The incident, according to the Punch, happened on Saturday, December 9, 2017, when the 29-year-old Udo, an instructor with a driving school, Lizzy Driving School, lured the victim into a bush in the Mawuko area in the Odeda Local Government Area of the state and forcefully raped her before strangling her to death.

It was gathered that Taiyese had registered at the driving school to learn how to drive and the Edo State-born Udo was assigned to teach her, a move that led to her untimely death.

The suspect who was paraded at the scene of the crime on Thursday, December 14, by the State Commissioner of Police, Iliyasu Ahmed, narrated how he hatched the plans of raping the girl and killing her thereafter.

Udo said the Taiyese had called him on the day of the incident, demanding her learner’s permit and he told her to join him at Lafenwa area in Abeokuta, the state capital, to collect the permit.

Udo explained that when the victim arrived, he told her that he had resigned from the driving school and that she should follow him to the place where the learner’s permit would be processed so she could collect it.

“We boarded a vehicle and later took a motorcycle to Iberokodo. We alighted at a junction near the bush. She was surprised and she asked, ‘is this where you live?’

I said yes, and as we entered the bush, I told her that I wanted to have sex with her but she said no.

I don't know what came over me but I dragged her into the bush and After I finished and told her to go, she told me that she would report me to her family and that I would be arrested and sent to jail.

I did not want to go to jail, so I overpowered her, tore her clothes and used them to strangle her. When she was gasping for breath, I dumped her in the forest and ran away.

I am very sorry for what I did and pray that God will forgive me," the now sober Udo begged.

CP Iliyasu said the police received the complaint of a missing person from the coordinator of the NYSC in the state, John Okon, and his command immediately went into action and after investigations, Udo was arrested and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime.

“We went for a powerful, technical screening of fact left behind by the last person she made contact with, who is the suspect,” CP Iliyasu said.
