Afrobeat act speaks on why he doesn't get shows in Nigeria

Seun Kuti talks about the baffling occurrence of him not getting shows in his home country.

In an interview with Saturday Punch, Afrobeat act Seun Kuti, and youngest child of the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has spoken on why he doesn't get many gigs in Nigeria like he does in overseas.

"I come back here to rest because I don’t get jobs here. I don’t understand it as well. At times, I am saddened by it because it is just a shame" he stated.

"It is not even about me but the band which has the pedigree of being a big band. But just for political reasons, we are being excluded. I believe afro beat should be in high demand in Nigeria, Fela did a lot for Nigerians" he further stated.

Last he said the concerts in Nigeria are not better than the ones he performs in overseas, and wonders why promoters don't pick him for shows over here. "I watch the shows here and it is not as if they are better than what I do."
