Pulse joins 'The Amazing Race'

From press conferences to mental and physical activities, read our reporter's diary from day two of #OnlyTheBest in Mauritius.

Wednesday, 2 September, 2015.

Another day in sunny Mauritius and I haven’t yet been to the beach. MultiChoice has put together a series of experiential activities for everyone attending the Content Showcase so there’s a schedule that needs to be adhered to.

Our morning started with house rules and after this, there was the MultiChoice press conference where they explained why we were here, what to expect during our time on the island and the future of programming on the entertainment service provider.

After filing stories, I got the chance to actually partake in ‘The Amazing Race’ adventure by the Sony Channel. The night before, I received an envelope in my rooms instructing me of where we had to be. Once I showed up at the starting point of the event which was a small club house called ‘The Plantation Club’, we were asked to download the Sony Channel app.

Once this was done and instructions were given, the race began. Each clue on the app gave us directions for the next stage of the race.

The game saw me and other journalists running all over the Outrigger resort looking for clues and applying mental cognition to get to the next phase.

Following this, the physical activity, the next event I attended was the SuperSport's media round table with the channel’s head of production, Alvin Naicker, head of marketing Motheo Matsau, SuperSport general manager: Southern Africa Graeme Murray, former Ghana International footballer Anthony Baffoe, and sports presenter Carol Tshabalala who hosted the panel.

After this, I quickly nipped down to the beach and then back to my room to get ready for the Vicacombat dinner hosted by Viacom International Media Networks Africa.

The dinner party anchored by Basketmouth and Nomuzi Mabena had themed games and entertainment from the various VIMN properties including Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central and BET. There was a Nick trivia, guess the song and one of the best events of the night was the 'Lip Sync Battle'.

The highlight of the night was watching Ramsey Noauh sing Wizkid’s Hola at your boy’ and seeing Basketmouth get slimmed. Keep following Pulse on Instagram and Twitter for more of our adventures in Mauritius.
