Toke Makinwa is finally free

After acknowledging that she had marriage troubles Toke Makinwa is free to be bigger than what she is now.

“I won’t lie since my personal life suffered a public setback last year, talking about relationships left me feeling a type of way, kind of like I failed at mine so who am I to talk but as time goes by, I am getting comfortable again in my own growth and I am learning as I go so we can all learn together. We are the sum of our experiences so I am no longer ashamed, I have been given a platform and it’s my duty to share.”

Ah....finally a breath of fresh air. For me this is Toke Makinwa’s realest vlog and moment also. Granted she has made a name for herself by advising women on love, relationships, beauty and sex but I always felt that her love tips weren't real.

We all knew her marriage troubles so it was kind of baffling for me whenever I see her advise people on their relationships. It sort of felt like a pastor with marriage troubles advising young couples in his congregation. The blind can’t lead the blind.

Now that Toke Makinwa has opened up about her failed relationship I expect her vlogs to have a heavy dose of realness. She has been through the fire and back. Now more people will really listen to her when she talks about love. She has the scars to prove it.

No longer is she ashamed of her failures. She wants to wear them as a badge of honour. Failing at love is not failure itself. It shows strength and courage especially if you give love a chance again.

Before Toke Makinwa’s vlog sort of felt like femi-nazi rhetoric. I expect her tone to slightly change from now on from the prevalent femi-nazi expression to a message of courage, independence and strength for women who are in bad relationships.

Toke Makinwa is finally free and ready to move on her with her life. Owning up to her failed relationship will hopefully help the shackles placed on women who are in struggling marriages. Society believes women should keep quiet, smile and leave all to God if they are in a bad marriage.

Nope those days are over. Women shouldn't carry the cross of a bad marriage on their shoulders anymore.
