Singer confirms mother’s death

66-year-old Doris Rowland Garrison died on Tuesday, December 2, after going into cardiac arrest the previous day.

Kelly Rowland has issued a statement confirming the reports of her mother’s death.

66-year-old Doris Rowland Garrison died on Tuesday, December 2, after going into cardiac arrest the previous day.

The former Destiny's Child star confirmed the news via a statement issued by her publicist today, December 3. It reads:

“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Doris Rowland Garrison. She was an incredible soul who made countless sacrifices so that I could become the woman—and now mother—I am today,”

“We humbly appreciate all the love and support and only ask for privacy during this difficult time,” the statement added.

Kelly welcomed a son, Titan Jewell Weatherspoon, with husband Tim Weatherspoon on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
