The pop star also known as Banga Lee has now come out to dismiss the story. According to a press release from his rep D'banj was not mobbed by street thugs. Rather, the entertainer was surrounded by a mob of fans who were eager to greet him.

"What was wrongly reported as an attack by a mob of thugs was actually a mob of fans who had been eagerly waiting to see the Koko Master in person as he exited a factory in Apapa where he had been shooting a commercial" read the statement from his PR.

The statement also said "the crowd of close to a thousand were chanting and shouting songs from his yet to be released EP and lines such as "Baba Confidential" "Baba, who is knocking on Ur door" and "Baba we feeling the nikka"."

D'banj is set to release his visual EP titled "" on September 28.
