Strickland's body had later been found one week after he had been reported missing on January, 4.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement Division revealed this new discovery on Tuesday, January 5.
A statement released to Us Weekly revealed that the late country singer’s body had been located at 11:35 a.m. on Monday, January 4, by an OHP trooper.
The trooper is reported to have been searching on foot around a thick tree and brush area, about 75 feet off the shoreline, near Bear Creek Cove.
UsWeekly reports that the singer's body had been found 1/4 miles north of where his close buddy, Chase Morland, had been found dead on December 28.
Morland’s body had been reportedly was found in shallow water.
The close pals had risked going through storm Goliath on a duck hunting expedition in Kaw Lake, Kay County, Oklahoma, on December 26.
Morland had tweeted about their trip on Saturday, December 26, saying:
“In case we don't come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm,”
Strickland, vocalist for the Arkansas band Backroad Anthem, retweeted the message the same day.
A search was later launched after the duo had been reported missing.
The statement which had been released also revealed that, Strickland and Morland had chartered a 1977 Flat Bottom John Boat with no motor.
Along with their hunting equipment, they also had an ice chest and hunting decoys on the boat with them.
After the boat had capsized, the hunting items are reported to have formed a “debris field” along the shoreline close to the area where they had been located.
The official causes of death for both parties are yet to be determined, even though weather is said to have been a major factor.
