Agency declares war against illegal installation of telecom facilities

A session will hold before the end of the year to formally meet all stakeholders in the sector accompanied with an enumeration of all communications infrastructure in the state to be undertaken by the agency

Newly appointed general manager of the Lagos state Infrastructure and Regulatory Agency, Babajide Odekunle, has restated the agency’s commitment to the regulation of the communication infrastructure space in the telecommunications, financial services, and utilities sectors of the state.

Odekunle also stated that the era of impunity by service providers with regards to the use pf substandard materials to erect communication infrastructure, undue delay in completion of approved work on major roads by utility companies will no longer be tolerated by the agency.

The LASIMRA boss also gave a hint at the plans and programmes of the agency saying that a session will hold before the end of the year to formally meet all stakeholders in the sector accompanied with an enumeration of all communications infrastructure in the state to be undertaken by the agency.

As part of the efforts of the Akinwunmi Ambode-led government in Lagos State to make governance much more responsive, the agency also listed two dedicated phone lines for the public to reach out to the agency for enquiries, and report any attempt to lay cables on or under any road in the state.
