One of the Robots manufacturing company based in San Jose, California have just won a $20 million fund raising, led by SB Group US, a unit of Japan’s Softbank. In April the company whose current investors Shasta Ventures and O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures announced the design of a new robot that can be used to tackle the logistics market. named fetch's freight
Fetch’s Freight robot are used in places like warehouse, and fulfilment centres, they are like human pickers in a warehouse, they gather products to be shipped, and following them carefully.
The one-armed Fetch potentially replaces the human picker, at least for many kinds of objects, and can work with Freight for more autonomous operation of a warehouse. Each then return to a charging base automatically.
Fetch Robotics system uses a relatively large and capable mobile manipulator (Fetch) to pick items off of warehouse shelves, while Freight a mobile base, acts as an autonomous cargo delivery cart. Fetch can pick items continuously, while a succession of Freights can switch in and out to move differently.
Fetch robotics is focusing especially on reducing the cost of its robots, and plans to use the money across the board, from sales and marketing to manufacturing to software development.
See how it works.
