The writer and director Quentin Tarantino on Thursday released a statement through an actress and friend about the allegations of sexual harassment and assault against the film producer Harvey Weinstein.

The director, who has worked with Weinstein for decades, is "stunned and heartbroken," he said in a statement relayed by an actress and friend.
Tarantino has worked with Weinstein on several projects, including 1994's "Pulp Fiction," which was nominated for several Oscars, including best picture and best director. Tarantino won the Oscar for writing the original screenplay.
The Weinstein Company also released Tarantino's films "Django Unchained" (2012) and "Inglourious Basterds" (2009), which rank among the company's highest-grossing films.
The allegations against Weinstein have mounted since they surfaced in a New York Times report last week, and many in the industry have publicly made a statement. Tarantino, who does not use social media, had not until Thursday night, when Amber Tamblyn shared an Instagram post and a tweet with a short statement from him.

Here's what Tarantino said:
"For the last week, I've been stunned and heartbroken about the revelations that have come to light about my friend for 25 years Harvey Weinstein. I need a few more days to process my pain, emotions, anger and memory and then I will speak publicly about it."
