'How ex-NSA plotted to kill me after reporting his shady deals to Jonathan' - NATFORCE DG reveals

NATFORCE DG alleged that Dasuki protected illegal arms dealers, who smuggled trailer-load of ammunitions into the country through various borders.

Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.)

The Director General, National Taskforce to Combat Illegal Importation of Small Arms, Ammunition, and Light Weapons, NATFORCE, Dr. Emmanuel Osita Okereke, has alleged that embattled ex-National Security Adviser (NSA) plotted to assassinate him after he reported his shady activities to former president Goodluck Jonathan.

Okereke, who spoke to Daily Post on today, Nov. 20, alleged that Dasuki protected illegal arms dealers, who smuggled trailer-load of ammunitions into the country through various borders.

“My men intercepted 12 trailer load of ammunition at Sema border, and Col. Sambo used his boys to clear the arms and threatened to assassinate me when I wrote to the former President Jonathan”, the NATFORCE DG said.

He added that ex-president Goodluck Jonathan asked Dasuki to invite him (Okereke) after he made some information available to the president, but the ex-NSA blocked the meeting from ever taking place.

Okereke backed the Department of State Service (DSS) for stopping Dasuki from travelling out of Nigeria, alleging that he is planning to flee to Syria.

“Former EFCC boss Ibrahim Lamorde has escaped through Chad border, before fleeing abroad; it would be disastrous for the country if Dasuki escapes trial,” he said, adding that the former NSA should be held responsible of 80 percent of the challenges the country is facing today.

He further said, “Somebody like Col. Dasuki (rtd) should not benefit in that hope because he is enemy of progress and rule of law.

“He disobeyed several court orders while in office for his selfish interest. Why is he asking that order of the same court he disobeyed while in office should be obeyed now?”

“It is only in Nigeria that somebody who is standing trial in a criminal matter would want to travel abroad for medical checkup.

“Now, we are talking about insecurity in the country; former EFCC boss Ibrahim Lamorde has escaped through Chad border. This is the man the chairman, Police Service Commission recommended as one of the best police officers, who has done well for his country; today, that same man is now an escapee.”

Dasuki was indicted by the committee set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to look into the various arms purchase deals from 2007 till date.

The committee had discovered that the ex-NSA made payments to the tune of N3,850,000,000.00 to a single company without documented evidence of contractual agreements or fulfillment of tax obligations to the Federal Government of Nigeria among other discoveries.
