The Ministry of Interior is to partner with the Centre for Management Development (CMD) for the training of staff of the ministry.

‎The Mini‎ster of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, stated this on Tuesday in Abuja when the Director-General of the Centre, Mr Kabir Kabo, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

‎Dambazau said that the partnership was aimed at improving the knowledge base of the ministry's staff and building their capacity in line with international best practice.

He‎ pledged to deepen the understanding between the Centre and the Ministry at a time the country had resolved to look inward in order to promote home-grown entrepreneurial initiatives to solving local challenges.

He said that the way forward for a transiting economy such as Nigeria was to drum up support for indigenous initiatives, and that the Ministry would take advantage of programmes available at the Centre to improve its staff capacity.

" The ministry is ready to partner with the Centre in the area of capacity building for our staff,

"This is very important especially in a transiting economy like ours with great potentials," he said.

Earlier, Kabo said that the visit was to partner with the ministry in the area of capacity building.

He said that the ministry was very strategic especially in the area of ensuring public safety and security.

He said the visit was sequel to several communication between the Ministry and the Centre to collaborate in the areas of capacity building for staff of the Ministry as well as personnel of agencies under it.

Kabo pledged the commitment of the Centre in the training of staff of the ministry and other agencies under the ministry.
