Minister reviews Abuja indigenes resettlement

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), is to review all outstanding issues concerning resettlement and compensation of the original inhabitants of Abuja, the Minster, Bello Muhammed, has said.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), is to review all outstanding issues concerning resettlement and compensation of the original inhabitants of Abuja, the Minster, Bello Muhammed, has said.

Speaking at his maiden Press Conference in Abuja, the Minister said the only way the natives will be treated fairly was for a review of the resettlement debacle.

"A review of outstanding issues of Resettlement and Compensation Scheme affecting  original inhabitants of the FCT will equally be carried out with the goal of ensuring equitable resolution of legitimate claims," Bello said.

According to Bello, his administration will reform infrastructure maintenance in all the districts in no distance time adding that landscaping,  drainages, street and traffic lights and as roads maintenance would be promptly looked at.

"This is with view to evolving a robust mechanism for raising in the  necessary sustainable funding needed to give the city the befitting world class infrastructure it deserves," Bello said.

The Minister also warned that all beneficiaries of land allocated  to them in Phase 1 and Phase 2 must develop them or stand the risk of forfeiting them.
