Filmmaker will not direct the next James Bond movie

Following reports that Daniel Craig would not return as James Bond, Sam Mendes has confirmed that he won't be returning for the next Bond movie.

According to Associated Press, Sam Mendes confirmed on Saturday, May 28, 2016, that he will not direct the next James Bond film.

He revealed this while speaking at the Hay Festival in Wales. Mendes sad, “It was an incredible adventure, I loved every second of it, but I think it’s time for somebody else.”

Mendes made his Bond debut with "Skyfall," which brought in $1.108 billion worldwide in 2012. His second film in the franchise was the 2015 "Spectre," which grossed over $880 million globally, and starred Daniel Craig, who is reportedly not returning for the next film.

Commenting on the rumours that Craig won't be returning, and on his possible replacements, Mendes said, “it’s not a democracy. Barbara Broccoli (franchise producer) decides who is going to be the next Bond, end of story.”

Actors like Damian Lewis, Idris Elba, undefined, Tom Hiddleston and Michael Fassbender, have been rumoured to replace the actor when he quits.
