Sequel gets title, new release date

Sony has announced official title for the upcoming third "Bad Boys" movie, and an official release date.

The movie which was previously scheduled for a June 2, 2017 release will now make its debut on January 12, 2018 with the title "Bad Boys for Life."

The film will have Will Smith return as Detective Mike Lowrey and Martin Lawrence as Detective Marcus Burnett.

The first "Bad Boys" movie was released in 1995 and it grossed approximately $65 million. The 2013 "Bad Boys 2" movie brought in a $46.5 million domestic opening, and went on to gross $273 million worldwide.

The upcoming movie is expected to be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer with a screenplay by David Guggenheim.

"Bad Boys 4" is scheduled for a July 3, 2019 release.
