Church to spearhead awards for Gospel music

Could this be the Nigerian Headies of Christian music makers? The good people at RCCG plan to launch the first ever Gospel awards.

A new award packaged by the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s (RCCG) national drama department is set to debut in order to celebrate professionals in the gospel terrain.

The RCCG national drama unit and Salvation Crusaders Media have taken up the assignment of pioneering a truly comprehensive award ceremony for both the country’s Christian drama ministry and gospel music industry with the potential to draw international acclaim to the incredible talents of both our gospel artistes and movie/drama artistes, in order to showcase the richness and great potential of the Nigerian entertainment industry.

The new award has 23 different categories in music and movies, including Artiste of the Year (Musical), Actor of the Year (Movies), Album of the Year, Movie of the Year and Song of the Year, Male Vocalist, Female Vocalist, Best use of instruments in a Track, Best sound track on movies (Local Composition) and Best Indigenous Music of the year.

Others include Movie of the Year, Musical Video of the Year, Most Popular Song, Most Popular Act, Best Praise Song, Best Worship Song, Best Soul Winning in a musical, Best Soul Winning in Movie and Best Soul Winning in Drama.
