You see, I'm a young working class woman who has a man that she is madly in love with. I wish I could say that I had all the money to play around with but alas, this is not the case. I love my job but the pay isn't exactly paying my bills. My man, amazing as he is, supplements most of the time and I feel guilty about it. So I told myself that 2013 is a new year, and so I must give my baby a Valentine to remember. If only I knew that the surprise backfired....

I started planning for Valentine since January 3rd (Sue me!!!). I figured that if I started early, I would have my plan in place to give him a mind blasting valentine. I had gotten the lingerie ;), bought the rose petals, even gotten him a gift too. I'm sure by now you'd be thinking 'What more is left?', well a lot I'd say. I needed to plan the surprise so that Rochas (who is my man by the way) wouldn't find out. He is a very suspicious man and I knew that he suspected my plans so I had to be careful. On that fateful day, to throw him off track I sent balloons cakes and flowers to his office. I had paid attention to details, the balloons and flowers were to be delivered to his office and a super enormous card which would sing when it is opened will also be delivered. While this was been delivered, I would get to his place earlier than usual to set the stage for an uber-romantic dinner.

At about 12:00 noon, I made the call to set my plans in motion. I smiled to myself wondering at what his expression would be when he got the delivery. During that time, I rushed back to the house which isn't too far from my office. I put the house together, decorated the bedroom in anticipation for tonight's 'business', set the CD to the right track so that all I needed to do was press play. The rose petals, scented candles and everything else was in place too. I smiled as I surveyed my work and rushed back to the office. I was going to leave early to pick up the meals (no time to cook) and freshen up in time for Rochas' return. Sadly, that was the day that I now had extra work. Just when I thought that my plans were ruined, Rochas called to say that he would be late at the office. Hallelujah!!!

I hurried with my work and got to the house, fuming and praying that my plans will still go according to plan. I wondered, though how long it would take for Rochas to come home. Luckily I had extra candles so if he decided to come home by 12 am, I was ready for him! I got to the front of the door and heard music. Shit! Someone was in the house. I pushed the door open and walked into the house and the music I had set was playing!!! I made my way to the dinning and the food was set. I looked at the nylon of Chinese in my hands and wondered if somehow, the food that transmitted itself to the table. With trepidation in my heart, I made my way to the bedroom....and opened the door.

On the bed was the most alluring display of flowers but no one was in sight. I was seriously worried. All this was more than what I planned. I turned sharply and bumped smack into Rochas.

'Jeez Rochas, you scared me' I said. He didn't say anything but smiled and led me to the table. 'Oh well' I thought to myself,' so much for planning a surprise. I guess, all join'. We made our way to the dinning and settled on to eat.

'Did you get my package?' I asked

'Yes,I did. In fact it came when I was in the meeting with Mr. Greustcher and Mr. Schnieder. Luckily, they smiled at me and didnt fire me.'

'Sorry,' I apologized and just then the doorbell rang. I went to get it and it turned out to be a delivery addressed to me. I wondered why a package for me will be delivered to Rochas' place since I didn't put his address and my delivery address. I sat down and began to open the package and in it was the prettiest little red velvet box. My eyes grew wide and I noticed Rochas get on his knees and start to mumble some words. I cant remember half of what he said, all I know was that I was screaming my lungs out........

So that was how the surprise I planned became the surprise for me. I'm not saying you shouldn't plan a valentine surprise but make sure that you don't get your man fired (like I almost did) . Also ensure that your man isn't planning a surprise that turns out to be bigger than yours. Enjoy your valentine celebration.
