Davido shares alleged WAEC result of Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo after campaign jab at Adeleke
Davido shared what appeared to be Governor Monday Okpebholo's alleged WAEC result after the governor mocked Ademola Adeleke.
The exchange comes days before the August 15 Osun governorship election, where Davido is campaigning for his uncle.
Neither Governor Okpebholo nor the Edo State Government had responded to the Instagram post at the time of filing.
Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to comments made by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, escalating an already heated political exchange ahead of the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.
The singer, who has been actively campaigning for his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, shared what appeared to be Governor Okpebholo's West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result on his Instagram Stories in the early hours of Friday, August 7.
Davido did not include any caption or explanation with the post.
However, the timing led many social media users to interpret it as a direct response to remarks Okpebholo made during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Osun.
The document shared by the singer purportedly showed several low grades.
Pulse Nigeria has not independently verified the authenticity of the result, and neither Davido nor Governor Okpebholo immediately provided further clarification about the document.

What sparked the clash?
The exchange began on Thursday when Governor Okpebholo joined the APC campaign trail in support of the party's governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
While addressing supporters, the Edo governor criticised Governor Adeleke, whose dancing videos have become a defining part of his public image.
According to videos from the rally, Okpebholo questioned whether Osun residents wanted another four years under a governor he described as always dancing, arguing that the state needed serious leadership instead.
"Before somebody signs paper, he will dance... Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance," the governor said while urging voters to support the APC candidate.

Davido had been campaigning for his uncle
Davido has been one of the most visible supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke's re-election bid.
In the days leading up to the election, the singer attended campaign events, shared photos with the governor and encouraged supporters to remain peaceful throughout the electoral process.
His involvement mirrors the prominent role he played during Adeleke's successful 2022 governorship campaign, where he frequently appeared at rallies and mobilised supporters.
Davido's Instagram Story quickly spread across X, Instagram, Facebook and blogs.
His influence extends well beyond music, and his public endorsement of Governor Adeleke has made him one of the most prominent celebrity voices in the Osun governorship race.
As of the time of filing this report, Governor Monday Okpebholo had not publicly responded to Davido's post, and there was no official statement from the Edo State Government addressing the alleged WAEC result.
Davido also did not issue any further comment beyond the Instagram Story.
