'Get Adeleke ready to become your dancer,' Uzodimma replies Davido's plea for peaceful Osun election

• Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has responded to Davido's call for a peaceful Osun governorship election, saying the singer should direct his appeal to Osun voters instead.

• Uzodimma predicted Governor Ademola Adeleke's defeat in the August 15 governorship election and urged Davido to help his uncle prepare for life after office.

• The governor's response followed Davido's appeal against alleged interference in the Osun election, stressing the need for a peaceful, free and credible poll.

Uzodimma's response came in a statement issued on Thursday by his Senior Special Assistant on Electronic and Creative Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu.

The governor said Davido should direct his appeal to the people of Osun instead of him, insisting that the election would be decided by voters.

"The reality is that Governor Ademola Adeleke has, in the opinion of many, failed woefully in the discharge of his responsibilities. This is why many Osun voters are determined to vote him out in the August 15, 2026, governorship election.

"The signals emerging from across Osun State are clear. There is a growing indication that a significant number of voters have rejected the current administration and are prepared to embrace a new direction," the statement read.

Uzodimma also claimed Davido should focus on supporting his uncle ahead of what he described as an imminent electoral defeat.

"Rather than attempting to influence Governor Hope Uzodimma through emotional appeals, Davido should concentrate on helping his uncle prepare for life after office, as the people of Osun appear ready to cast their votes massively in favour of the APC candidate.

"Perhaps Governor Adeleke should begin preparing himself for a new role as Davido's lead dancer once he leaves office."

The governor's response follows Davido's appeal on Wednesday, in which the singer urged political stakeholders to ensure a peaceful, free, and credible governorship election in Osun State.

Without mentioning anyone by name, Davido called on a politician from Imo State to use his influence to prevent interference in the election, saying he had heard rumours of attempts to turn Osun into a political battleground to prove a point.
