WATCH: "For four years this man has been dancing" — Okpebholo mocks Adeleke, tells Osun voters to collect rivals' money but vote APC

• Okpebholo mocked Adeleke's dancing, claiming the Osun governor focuses more on dancing than governance.

• He urged voters to collect money from rival parties but still cast their votes for the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

• The Edo governor linked Adeleke to former Edo governor Godwin Obaseki, saying Osun voters should "kick out" Adeleke just as Edo voters rejected Obaseki.

• The remarks came during an APC campaign rally ahead of the August 15 Osun governorship election, where Okpebholo also criticised the condition of roads in the state.

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has taken a swipe at Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, over his famous dance moves, saying the governor spends more time dancing than governing.

Okpebholo made the remarks on Thursday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship campaign rally in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The rally was held to drum up support for the party's candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as "Ambo." Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo was also present.

Speaking to APC supporters, Okpebholo repeatedly mocked Adeleke's love for dancing, suggesting it had become a distraction from governance.

"Before somebody signs paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance," Okpebholo told the crowd.

The Edo governor also tried to link Adeleke with former Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, saying both politicians deserved similar treatment from voters.

"That man is Obaseki's friend. You know we kicked Obaseki out of Edo. So, we have to kick his friend out of this place too. A lot of people 'chopped' Obaseki's money, but they never voted for him," he added.

One of the biggest talking points from the rally came when Okpebholo addressed reports that the Accord Party was allegedly sharing money with voters ahead of the election.

Rather than telling supporters to reject the money, he urged them to collect it but still vote for the APC candidate.

"If they bring money, 'chop' that money from them, but don't vote for them. They said they have money to spend, is that not so? Just collect the money, keep it in your pocket," he said.

Vote buying has remained a major issue during elections in Nigeria, with election observers and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) repeatedly warning political parties and voters against the practice because it is an electoral offence.

Okpebholo also criticised the state of roads in Osun while campaigning for Oyebamiji, using another jab at Adeleke.

"The road I was passing, my tyre was shaking. I said, is it the dancing road or the dancing governor's road?"

He ended his speech by asking supporters if they were ready to replace the current administration.

"Osun, are we ready to make a change? Are we ready to say bye-bye to dancing?" he asked as supporters cheered.

The August 15 governorship election is expected to be keenly contested, with the APC seeking to unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is currently in power in Osun under Governor Ademola Adeleke.
