Tillerson says he’s heartbroken over kidnap of 110 schoolgirls in Nigeria

The US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson has expressed heartbreak over the kidnap of 110 schoolgirls from a Girls Secondary school in Dapchi, Yobe State, Nigeria.

Tillerson made this known on Monday evening, March 12, 2018 during his brief visit to Nigeria.

“The recent kidnapping of 110 schoolgirls heartbreaking,” Tillerson said on his arrival in the capital Abuja on the final leg of an African tour.

During his brief meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, Tillerson condemned the abduction of the schoolgirls in northern Nigeria and promised Washington’s backing in the fight against Boko Haram and terrorists.

“Nigeria has the US in full support and we are actively working with our partners in what we can assist you in this fight,” the diplomat assured President Buhari.

Tillerson left Kenya and travelled to Chad on Monday morning, March 12, 2018 to meet President Idriss Deby.

The US envoy had cut short his week long tour of five African countries over workload and other pressing schedules in US.
