The warning

President Buhari's aide said in a meeting with the security chiefs, the media had been urged to thread gently as the 2019 general elections creeps in.

Shehu said the security chiefs warned the media against activities of some unregistered groups that had become very active lately with the aim of undermine critical institutions such as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and law enforcement agencies.

In the same vein, the security chiefs had also called for cooperation with the media to prevent sabotage of the ongoing efforts to restore security in parts of Nigeria that have been hoodwinked by radical ideologies from outside the country.
