President Buhari finds a partner in Museveni in love for cattle and farming

Both leaders are exemption to all in Africa as they love vacation on their farmland to luxurious locations across the world.

Across the world, the role of a president is one that demands a full-time engagement. Thus, annual leave by a president is usually spent at exotic locations across the world to refresh their mindset and renew the force for better governance.

This is also the case for most African leaders. But the duo of Buhari and Museveni are showing their flair for natural endeavours as they took to farming. In most cases, these former military officers are noted to be taking time out at their farms.

President of Nigeria stated about why he is spending some time out on his farm despite a tight official schedule of his office.

“I’m spending a few days at home in Daura before I travel to France for the One Planet Summit. Today I paid a visit to my farm. I grow fruits, vegetables and keep cattle. I hope this will inspire one more person to take up farming. My vision is for a country that grows what it eats,” Buhari stated.

Museveni also related about why going to his farmland is important to the nation, and he advised that Africa should embrace farming and grow its own food.

“Spent the last two days at my farm in Kisozi, Gomba District. I want Ugandans to know that you can keep an indigenous breed of cattle and still have high milk yield and good quality animals,” Museveni said.

“As Africans, we should embrace who we are and cease having low esteem, which drives us to covet everything foreign/Western,” he stressed.

In the history of Nigeria, there is one leader that has so much love for farming like President Buhari. And that was the first and only Prime Minister of Nigeria – Sir Tafawa Balewa.

In 1962, Sir Tafawa Balewa was reported to have picked his farmland in Bauchi, northern Nigeria as his preferred vacation destination over going out of the country.
