VP visits France, collaboration against terrorism to be strengthened

Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on the sideline of the meeting of the Organisation of the Economic Development and Cooperation, OEDC’s Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum visited the Prime Minister of France, Bernard Cazeneuve, to forge better and stronger economic and security cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting with the French Prime Minister is one of such high level bilateral discussions the Vice President is scheduled to hold during this journey, a statement from the Office of the Vice President hinted last week.

Both countries agreed to continue to deepen the buoyant diplomatic, economic and military as well as explore new ways to confront and defeat the terrorism and ideologies fueling it. While the French counterpart acknowledged the success made by Nigeria government in fight against the Boko Haram in North-East Nigeria.

Information about the meeting showed that both countries have promised to commitment more efforts to the process of de-radicalization and defeating the ideologies behind insurgency and terrorism in both countries.

France in recent time has witnessed spite of terrorist attacks, and it is putting various security measures to curb the spread of Islamic ideologies within its country.
