People in Hollywood might start changing their tune about director M. Night Shyamalan after his latest, "Split," made a surprisingly massive haul over the weekend.

The "Sixth Sense" director's latest thriller, which stars James McAvoy as a man with 23 different personalities who kidnaps three girls, earned $40.2 million over its opening weekend, giving it the No. 1 spot at the box office.
