Mikel is one of the highest paid African players as at 2017. For wearing the jersey of Tianjin TEDA, Mikel earns a weekly wage of £140,000 ($194,600) which amounts to around £7.56 million ($10.5 million) annually.
His endorsement deals
John Obi Mikel also makes a lot of cash from his endorsement deals with multinational companies such as PEPSI, Samsung and Nigerian Breweries Plc (Amstel Malt).

Mikel Obi has been noted to have a likeness for good building, hence his exotic mansion in the heart of London and many real estate investments in Abuja, Lagos (Lekki) and Jos.
