Court admits evidence against PDP spokesman

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) tendered the three sets document, which was admitted by Justice Okon Abang.

The Federal High Court, Abuja Division has admitted into evidence, documents detailing how the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) electronically transferred N400 million to the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Olisa Metuh.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) tendered the three sets document, which was admitted by Justice Okon Abang, through a senior official from the ONSA, Mr. Baleh Ndam.

Marked Exhibits A, B and C, the documents included a petition named “Payment To Companies With No Contract Awards and Approval”, which the ONSA forwarded to the Chairman of the EFCC on November 28, 2015.

Others included a letter the EFCC sent to the ONSA on January 13, 2016, requesting for details of payments that were made to Metuh’s firm, Destra Investment Limited, and a reply to the EFCC letter dated January ‎14, 2016, which disclosed that the N400m was transferred to the 2nd defendant via e-payment.

According to the witness, who said he has been working in the legal department in the ONSA since 2012, Metuh’s firm was included in the list of 78 companies that allegedly received payments from the ONSA without executing any contract.

During cross-examination by the defence counsel, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), he also confirmed from a document that was presented to him that Metuh was awarded contract by the embattled former NSA Sambo Dasuki, to purchase three operational vehicles for the ‎ONSA.
