Legislators to get N8.64bn as wardrobe allowance next week

Each one of the country’s 109 Senators will get N21.5 million while the 360 members of the House of Representatives will get N17.5 million each.

Nigeria’s newly sworn in legislators will receive a whopping N8.64 billion as wardrobe allowance next week, reports say.

Each one of the country’s 109 Senators will get N21.5 million while the 360 members of the House of Representatives will get N17.5 million each, according to ThisDay.

This amount is separate from other allowances, furniture, housing and transportation, which the lawmakers are expected to receive.

107 Senators will also receive N4,052,800 each as housing allowance while the Senate President and his Deputy will be provided with official accommodation.

Newly sworn-in Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce earlier called for government officials to reduce their expenditure in order to ensure that the funds are used for the development of the country.
