Mr Eyitayo Jegede, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, resigned his appointment in Akure on Friday to contest for the governorship seat in November.

Jegede, in a statement, explained that his exit was to enable him to focus more on his desire to seek higher office to serve his people which would demand a lot of energy, time and sacrifice.

He thanked Gov. Olusegun Mimiko and the people of Ondo State for the unique opportunity given him to serve, noting that his stint in office enabled him to work in various sub-committees of the State Executive council.

The commissioner said that among the notable achievements of his stay in office included: supervision of the review and publication of Laws of Ondo State, the first since the inception of the sunshine state.

He said the Ondo State Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2015 was also signed into law by the governor during his tenure to revolutionalise administration of justice.
