2 rustlers killed in gun battle with Police, 441 cows recovered

He said the suspects were killed during a gun battle between the bandits and the special anti-cattle rustling squad on Sunday.

The Police Command in Kano State on Monday said it had killed two suspected rustlers, recovered 441 cattle and 81 sheep in Falgore forest, Doguwa Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Commissioner in the state, Mr Muhammad Katsina, disclosed this while presenting the animals to Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje at the forest.

The commissioner said the police had also recovered another 381 cattle, 46 sheep and two dogs at Gomo village, Sumaila Local Government Area of the state.

He also said that the command had recovered dangerous weapons and N500,000 cash abandoned by other fleeing hoodlums.

Katsina said the squad would continue with the operation in the affected local government areas to flush bandits out of the state.

He commended the state government for supporting the command to flush criminals out of the the state.

Receiving the animals, the governor said the state government would continue to support security agencies to control rustling and other banditry in the state.

Ganduje said the committee set up by the state government to return the animals to owners had so far handed over 245 cattles to their owners.

He commended the security agents for the effort and and urged communities in the affected areas to cooperate with the security agencies to achieve desired objective.
