The Air Officer Commanding (AOC), Training Command, Kaduna, AVM Nurudeen Balogun, says physical and mental fitness of the body is critical to the military service.

Balogun, represented by Air Commodore, Remigius Ekeh, made this known during the command’s 10-km walk, at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Kaduna, on Saturday.

``The Nigerian Air Force is a combat arm of service, you are aware that we participate in various military operations in the country.

``That is why we have to be physically and mentally fit to be ready to face any challenge,’’ Balogun said.

He said that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, designed the walk to ensure that personnel were physically and mentally fit to carry out their duty professionally.

``It is mandatory for personnel to turn up for this exercise. Officers, airmen and airwomen are supposed to engage in various exercises, even after this one.’

``It is the responsibility of every personnel to ensure that he or she is fit for the task ahead’’.

No fewer than 1,102 personnel participated in the exercise, while prizes were presented to athletes for their performance.
